Ford Foundation International Fellowship Programme

The International Fellowships Program (IFP) is a Ford Foundation-supported program. The program is especially designed to support candidates from social groups that have been marginalized and lack systematic access to higher education, such as women, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward classes, and physically handicapped.

The Programme:

IFP will provide support for up to three years of formal post-graduate study. A maximum of 42 fellowships are available, with a very limited number of slots for PHD studies.

Once selected, Fellows may enroll in universities in any part of the world, including universities in India. IFP will provide university placement assistance.

Applicants should:

Be Indian nationals or permanent residents, currently residing in the states of Bihar, Chhatisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh or Uttaranchal.

Hold a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree from a recognized Indian university with at least 55% marks. Candidates applying for PhD programs should have completed a Master’s degree with at least 60% marks. (IFP support will under no circumstance exceed 3 years. Applicants who already have two post-graduate degrees or equivalent will be given lower preference.)

Fellowship award amount
